Teriyaki Sauce

I recently saw a recipe for Teriyaki Chicken that I wanted to try, but didn't have any Teriyaki Sauce (I don't think it's even sold here!). But, I did have the ingredients below on hand to make a substitute. Very easy!

1/4 c. soy sauce
1 cup water
fresh grated giner (1T or to your taste)
3T brown sugar
1 minced garlic clove
2T cornstarch
1/4c. cold water

1. Combine 1 cup wter, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic and ginger in a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
2. Dissolve cornstarch in 1/4c. of cold water and add to sauce.
3. Stir constantly to allow the sauce to thicken.
4. If the sauce is too thick add a little water or soy sauce to thin.
